Welcome All to the new season, which kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday 12th.
I hope you have all had a good break. It has been a long, wet winter.
We look forward to the coming season with enthusiasm, anticipation and optimism. Congratulations to the three sides who made Grand Finals. Saturday Division 4 South won; Wednesday Div 3 with a 1–shot loss, and Thursday Div 3 with a loss. Well done all.
Lee Farrell, our new coach, will arrive shortly. We look forward to his input and vision to take the
Club forward to a successful season. His drills’ impact is already seen in our performances in trials, especially the ladies who have had excellent practices as the sun has shone.
Our goal will be to regain our place in Saturday Divisions 2 and 5 and Premier on Thursday.
We also strive to improve in all other divisions on all three days.
We must ALL take a positive outlook, attend practices as required and be supportive teammates in whatever division we play in. Please see the Game and team plan that is being circulated this week.
I thank the members who have accepted the role of Selector and team captains. The team captain is the first person you approach if you need to discuss where you have been selected. These are
essential roles, and I ask you all to approach the captain, and anyone else with respect, if you need to speak with them.
With the season starting this week for the Saturday Open teams, practices will be on Thursday from 3.30. It is an expectation that ALL players attend training. We will have match practice in rinks from
4.00.
I ask the Team Managers to ensure all their players are available for these sessions.
This team practice is necessary if we are to improve our results this year.
On a positive note, there will be incentives for winning sides playing at home on Saturdays this year.
All teams will have a chance every second week to take part, i.e. the team needs to win overall – then each winning rink and a rink that loses by six or fewer will get bar vouchers. These will be given out after the match once the cards are verified.
Initially, this will apply up to Christmas. The Board will then review it.
Good bowling, and enjoy the season.
